Alpine Type-R subwoofers are designed with HAMR engineering to deliver tight and accurate bass. The Alpine SWR-1242D subwoofers have a multi-stage thermal management system and a aluminum airflow motor cover which provides better airflow cooling for the best performance possible. The 12 inch SWR-1242D are precision crafted and they are designed to handle a pounding, long-lasting bass and will complement any stereo system for outstanding sound quality.

The Alpine SWR 1242D subwoofers are for those of you who want a serious and powerful system. The 1242D will not not fall apart, blow or distort like some woofers do in their class. These are made to last and can deliver amazing sound with the proper amp and correct wiring.

The Alpine SWR 1242D has a power handling of between 50 and 500 watts RMS with a frequency response of 24-500 Hz. Peak power is 1,500 watts that come in a 12 inch package. The pulp cone is kevlar-reinforced (kevlar is the material used in bullet-proof vests) and the frame is cast aluminum with perimeter venting for perfect air flow. The Alpine SWR 1242Ds are designed with extra rigidity, so it won't buckle under hard play. A rubber surround helps to maximize cone travel for deep bass, while withstanding the decay that can destroy a speaker. A re-designed thermal management system and aluminum airflow motor cover shed heat quickly for efficient operation and better power handling.

This subwoofer weighs in at 27 pounds and has a concealed mounted gasket system, a spiral cut aluminum forer with high temperaure DVC winding and a high amplitute multi-roll santoprene surround. Pretty impressive specs.
